It was about 1951,the high days of language movement, when the people of West Pakistan were fighting for their mother tongue. Two great devote persons, honorable father Picardo,CSC and father Obe,CSC came to west Pakistan by giving up their homeland Canada. They were devoted to the welfare of mankind. And honorable father Bishop Laroz,CSC the chief of Chittagong Religious State at that time, offered them to surve the mankind with the light of knowledge. Honorable father Picardo,CSC and father Obe,CSC followed the order and established ‘Kishor Primary School ’ at 5,sadar road of barisal. The school was established in 1951 with only 80 students. It was a very tough job in that time. Brother Cardinal,CSC took the challenge being the headmaster of the school.
The teachers, brothers and sisters were very talented and cordial to their students. So the school made goodwill in a very short time. So the amount of students increased day by day and in 1957 the campus was shifted to Nabogram Road of the town as ‘Saint Pall’s Primary School’. Brother Gramo,CSC was the headmaster at that time. The school which started with only 80 students, became a school of 500 students in 6 years! So the new campus was not sufficient to provide proper education for such huge students. So the teachers decided to transfer the school to a big campus and also provide education for female students.
In 1963 the school started to work as ‘Provati Girls’ School’ for girls and ‘Saint Pall’s Junior High School’ for boys at 5,sadar road. Where girls were in morning shift and the boys were in day shift. Sister Rani,CSC was the headmistress of the girls school and Brother Maven Baptist,CSC was the headmaster of the boys school. The two school were running smoothly in one campus. But in 1967, the girls school was stopped suddenly due to special reasons. After that the school managing commitee and the teachers took decision to transform the school as full boys school. In that time the education board requested that the name of the school should be changed in Bengali. So the teachers were searching for a new Bengali name for ‘Saint Pall’s Junior High School’.
After all ‘Udayan’ was selected by lottery and everybody accepted the name which was proposed by Babu Panchanon ghosh, honorable teacher of the school at that time. And thus, ‘Udayan High School’ was formed. Brother Maven Baptist was the first headmaster of the school. Although alumni of Udayan Secondary School organized reunions in 2002 and 2009—driven by a desire to preserve the emotional bond with their cherished school—these efforts did not evolve into a formal association; subsequently, in 2025, a group of alumni took the initiative to lay the groundwork for such an association, completing the necessary groundwork to ensure the success of this 'Ekotrik' (gathering) event.
